Frequently Asked Questions…

How to Get a Great Night’s Sleep?

Starting every day with a good night’s sleep is important year round. When you sleep, your body rests and restores its energy levels. However, sleep is an active state that affects both your physical and mental well-being. A good night’s sleep is often the best way to help you cope with stress, solve problems, or even recover from illness.*

What Happens During Sleep?

Sleep is prompted by natural cycles of activity in the brain and consists of two basic states:

  • Rapid Eye Movement (REM) Sleep – is the time when new information is processed and stored into our memory banks, as well as when dreaming takes place.
  • Non-Rapid Eyes Movement (NREM) Sleep – is the time when maintenance and restoration takes place.

During sleep, the body cycles between non-REM and REM sleep. Typically, people begin the sleep cycle with a period of non-REM sleep followed by a very short period of REM sleep. Dreams generally occur in the REM stage of sleep.*

Tips for Getting a Great Night’s Sleep

  • Avoid eating late at night as this can make it hard for your body to relax into a state of sleep.
  • Turn off the television, stereo and computer 30 minutes before bed to help calm your mind.
  • Remove clutter from your bedroom to create a sense of peace in your surroundings.
  • Make sleeping the primary activity in bed. Watching television, reading, eating or doing work in bed can make associating this space with sleep more difficult.
  • Keep a notepad and pen next to your bed to release thoughts that may pop up during the night and keep you from falling back to sleep.

In short, sleep is important for your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing – and for those times of occasional sleeplessness, a quality supplement containing targeted herbs and botanical that support better, longer, more restful sleep can help!*
