To lose one pound, you must burn approximately 3500 calories over and above what you already burn. While this may sound like a daunting task, it’s not… it just takes a bit of patience and discipline and you’ll be on your way to looking – and profoundly more important – feeling your best!

Unlocking the Weight Loss Mystery

Despite what some may think, losing weight isn’t a mysterious process. In fact, weight loss doesn’t even have to involve strange diets, special exercises, or fitness gadgets. Want the secret to weight loss?

  • Eat Right – You know you shouldn’t eat chocolate cake for lunch every day. It may help to keep a daily log of what you eat so you can better spot potential dietary pitfalls.
  •  Make Small Changes – For example, drink water instead of soda, use the stairs instead of the elevator, take the dog for a short walk instead of planting yourself in front of the television after work, etc.
  • Exercise – Any type of brisk activity a few times a week for just 30 minutes will make a world of difference. Don’t worry about what the “best” type of exercise is… the “best” type of exercise is the one you’ll do!!!
  • Get More Fiber – Fiber keeps the right amount of water in your intestines, making your digestive system work more efficiently and helps keep you regular. Thus, just eating enough fiber may help you feel slimmer in just a day or so.
  • Snack Healthy – Pick snacks that are low in fat and calories, and high in fiber like fresh fruits and vegetables. Fruit contains more soluble fiber than vegetables, which slows your body’s absorption of carbohydrates, thus releasing energy more slowly, (preventing sugar highs), and keeping you feeling full longer.
  • Drink Plenty of Water – Most people simply don’t drink enough Water. If you’re chronically dehydrated, your body will retain water in unflattering places, so simply getting enough fluids can help you start visibly trimming down.
  • Supplement When Needed – Quality dietary supplements can help control appetite and benefit metabolism, promoting faster weight loss to help you reach your trimming goals.*

Above and beyond, BE REALISTIC and don’t expect the impossible. Healthy weight loss can be achieved fairly quickly, but you’ll need to be patient, set realistic goals, and ensure the weight you’re trying to reach is a healthy weight for you – keeping in mind that gaining muscle will help you lose fat, be trimmer, and look better, even though you may not actually lose any weight. Your goal should be a healthy body, not a number of pounds! Remember, everyone looks good at a different weight, so keep yourself at a weight that not only makes you look good – but feel good… not at a number that sounds good.
